The primary objective of the subsea controls system is to assure that all components and subsystems of the entire subsea system come together to form a coherent, functional system that meets the project needs. The methodology for the controls system scope of work is: Review the provided SPS Basis of Design and Requirements, Review philosophies and studies from pre-FEED and subsea system scope, Confirm system configuration and functional requirements in accordance with philosophy documents (e.g. Barrier Philosophy), Confirm Subsea/Topsides Bridging documentation interface with Process Automation System, Confirm general arrangements for the components of the topside control system, with estimated package, sizes and weights, power, utility requirements, and envelope dimensions, Develop procurement documents, including design specifications and schematics, Develop operational philosophy documents, including safety flow diagrams, SAFE charts, and cause/effect tables, Assessment of umbilical hydraulic line, electrical, and FO sizing with inputs from Flow assurance and interface with umbilical scope and vendors.
The control system engineering will review the required Pre-FEED work for the subsea control system, including: Systems engineering and field layout controls support, Utility distribution, Interface with Topsides, and Calculations for hydraulic capacity and electrical and communications requirements.
